How to Stay Warm with Norwegian Design and Technology
Linda Tollefsen and Torstein Langeland have swapped heavy winter coats for battery-powered clothing from Heat Experience. With heating elements and app control, they can adjust the warmth as needed.
“I originally come from the west coast of Norway and thought I was immune to cold and damp weather – until I experienced my first winter in Trondheim. The cold here seeps into your bones in a way I wasn’t used to,” says Linda Tollefsen, a mother of young children.
It’s perhaps no coincidence that Trondheim, known as Norway’s tech capital, is also home to Heat Experience. Six years ago, Tollefsen discovered that battery-powered heated clothing was being made just down the road:
“I still use the jacket I got as a gift back then! It’s both stylish and of superb quality. When it rains, I wear it as a mid-layer to stay warm under a light raincoat. When it’s chilly but dry, it works perfectly as a standalone jacket,” she explains.
Perfect for Horseback Rides or Cabin Mornings
Tollefsen’s jacket is equipped with battery-powered heating elements that allow her to adjust the warmth as needed.
“It’s brilliant during autumn and spring when temperatures fluctuate – or when I’m out and about with my son in the woods. I turn on the heat when we sit down for lunch. Before, I always needed to bring extra clothes for these breaks, but that’s no longer necessary,” she says.
It’s impossible to tell that the jacket has heating elements:
“The jacket works just as well for horseback rides across Dovrefjell as it does for early mornings at the cabin before the fire is lit,” says Tollefsen.
“HeatX clothing has become a regular under our family’s Christmas tree in recent years, and I’ve handed out my own wishlist with several items from the newest collection.
Besides, the Oslo Coat looks absolutely stunning!” she adds.
Shedding Several Kilos of Clothing
One proud owner of the Oslo Coat is Torstein Langeland, also from Trondheim.
“I bike 10 kilometers to work and have been using HeatX clothing for over two years. This year, the Oslo Coat will keep me warm all the way from Ranheim to downtown,” he says.
The number of degrees below zero hardly matters anymore:
“I only turn on the heating function when I need it. Using the HeatX app, I set my desired temperature, and the jacket adjusts itself automatically. As my body heat increases, the heating effect decreases,” he explains.
The battery lasts all day, and Langeland wears only a shirt and blazer under the jacket. In fact, he’s replaced two heavy winter coats weighing 3.5 kilograms in total with a single jacket weighing just 1 kilogram, including the battery.
“My old ‘polar jackets’ are retired. So are the extra wool base layers that made me freeze when biking and sweat once I arrived at work. The only extra piece of clothing I need now is rain pants – it does rain here occasionally,” he says with a smile.
Suited for Everything
What Langeland loves most about the Oslo Coat is its versatility, unlike other winter jackets that often have a sporty look.
“This jacket allows me to look presentable even when heading to conferences or meetings – and when going out for dinner with friends or colleagues. It’s possible to stay warm and stylish at the same time,” he says.
Most people are quite surprised when Langeland reveals the jacket has heating elements:
“It’s clear that these clothes were developed by people passionate about both technology and design,” he says.
His wardrobe now includes several HeatX items:
“I use the gloves throughout the winter and adjust the heat just like I do with the jacket. When temperatures drop below minus 20 degrees, my HeatX socks also come into play,” Langeland concludes.
HeatX products from Heat Experience are available at retailers nationwide, offering adjustable warmth to meet your needs. Whether you’re on the move or exploring nature, these garments keep you warm without the bulk of traditional winter clothing. This is the future for anyone who wants to stay comfortable and warm without sacrificing style.
